JOB TITLE: Technician_Assembler

DIVISION: GAP (Gas and Process)

REPORT TO: Supervisor_Workshop
LOCATION: Busan Plant


[Mission]

To assemble (single stage) turbo and (multi-stage) screw compressor major(core) units in time and quality according given drawings and processes. This also includes preparation and verification of components, related quality checks and support to the test area.


[Main Responsibilities]

  • Major(Core) unit assembly
    • Review related bill of materials, drawings, and inspection requirements (ITP)
    • Inspect components for completeness and quality
    • Prepare the assembly location (alignment, cleanliness, tools)
    • Assemble core units including gear box elements, bearings, rotos and shaft seals
    • Install necessary clearances, verify/measure and document these
    • Verify gear mesh (if necessary, execute contact pattern inspection)
    • Installation of temperature and vibration probes and related wiring
    • Installation of oil pumps, couplings, …
    • report quality deviation to the engineer
    • Support necessary actions to correct non-quality issues
    • Support packaging in core unit related activities: pre-alignment, leveling of core unit installation
  • Test run preparations
    • Coupling alignment between core unit and driver using laser alignment equipment
    • Support test area in setting up and conducting test runs
    • Execute post-test inspections: bearing, gear mesh, …
  • Provide technical support and feedback to the internal team related to major(core) units
  • Parts/materials handling (receiving, storing, moving, lifting, recording) by crane or fork-lift operation.
  • Others requested by workshop supervisor and/or workshop manager.

[Job Requirement]

  • More than 4 years’ proven experience in the assembly of rotating equipment (compressors, diesel engines, pumps or gear boxes) or similar machinery as a mechanic
  • Experience of the shaft alignment process
  • Certification for forklift and overhead crane operations
  • Good communication skills and teamwork spirit.
  • Be familiar with related quality inspection tasks (dimensional measurements, alignment, run-out measurements, …) and their documentation
  • Understanding drawings/diagrams, procedures, and instructions written in English
  • Willing to occasionally work at late shift.
  • Willing to travel (domestic and abroad), average <10% of the working time., mainly for training purposes
  • Fluency in Korean language, good command in written English (to support training)
